Jules Fontanez (1875 - 1918), studierte in Genf an der «Ecole des Arts et Métiers»; Buchillustrateur, Maler, Grafiker. Mitarbeiter bei humoristischen Zeitschriften wie z. B. «Le Sapajou», «Le Passe-partout» oder «Le papillon». Ab 1900 in Paris, wo er für «Gil Blas» und den «Courier Français» zeichnete.
