Like Toyo Ito, for whom Hirokazu previously worked, the husband and wife team believe in a certain generative order in nature, and attempt to discover its logic and transform this into design elements. Their observation of the physical traits of natural things and energy flows has led to their use of natural energies and materials, and they seek to engender a coexistence and mutual respect between architecture and nature. Through more than 30 diverse works, both realised and conceptual, this volume explores the Suemitsu’s ideology and its manifestation in their projects.»
